Restorative Practices at East Bay Arts

Photo of Mr. YobaniHola familias of the East Bay! I am grateful to be our Restorative Practices (RP) Teacher, and to get to support your child’s relational well-being at EBA. I have been a physics teacher in my previous 5 years in my hometown of Los Angeles, moved by the relationship I had with teachers that challenged me and nurtured my various identities. I am passionate about not just giving our students the rich learning that happens when we center belonging, but also for getting to know the culturally-rich and wise communities we serve.

This year you can expect me to:

  • Be a co-teacher to your child’s teachers to make classes relationship-centered and rigorous
  • Help to process and resolve hurt feelings from interactions with peers and teachers
  • Check in one-on-one to prevent any escalating conflicts
  • Be a safe space and listening ear.

The best way to get in touch with me is via email at [email protected] or by calling (510) 317-4458 during the school day. I look forward to working with you all to nurture our youth’s growth!

Warmly,

Mr. Yobani (Jose Yobani Lopez, he/they), RP Teacher at EBA
