Math I Period 3 2019-2020-Mills Assignments

Go to Khan Academy and watch the assigned videos. Then click the link to do the practice exercises for Equations with variables on both sides(practice). Finally do the Brain Dump.

The first 3 videos are required, and then click the link below for the practice.

This week we will focus on how our early work with explicit equations of arithmetic sequences relates to slope-intercept form.

You will have 2 mangahigh assignments. Try to complete all levels of the game this week.

You will have a quiz for points. The quiz will be posted by Saturday morning.

This week you may take the quiz more than one time. Don't add extra spaces when you type your answer or you might be marked wrong.

This week you do NOT have a brain dump! To mix it up a little, instead you will have a quiz which I will post on Friday. You will only be able to do the quiz ONCE - so make sure you have paper and pencil handy before you start it. This document links to the videos I made for you and also to the Math Salamander site. Math Salamander has online practice to simplify fractions. Make sure you practice before the quiz.

Have paper and pencil handy. Open a tab for a calculator. You may only take the quiz once!

Required: 1.) Warm - Up Quiz, 2.) Recognize perpendicular and parallel lines, on mangahigh. 3.)”Khan Academy Assignments (login with google to see them), 4.) Brain Dump document

Optional: “Equations of perpendicular lines” on mangahigh, “Graphs of the Galaxy” game on mangahigh

Objective: Find the equation of a line that is parallel to another line. Find the equation of a line that is perpendicular to another line.

When you are finished, type "done" in the meet comments

If you miss class, do this on your own and turn it in late for credit

Make sure you have notifications turned on in classroom so that you are aware when teachers post announcements and assignments. This will help you keep up with your work.

Your GRADE will be based on your "Brain Dump / Reflection" sheet. For full credit you must follow all directions on the document and turn it in by the due date. If you would rather write on paper and turn in a photo that's fine. Email me if you need more time.

DO THE Slope-Intercept work on Google Slides. Some of it can be typed in but you need to do the graphs on paper.

Choose 3 different problems on the Worksheet: Pythagorean Problems. Check your answers and write a Brain Dump about what you remember. Write both Brain Dumps on the same document.

Mangahigh is a math website that has short lessons and practice. There are also math games. I hope that everyone will have a chance to use it during the remote learning time while school is closed. On Monday I sent you your login information on your gmail.

Read the pdf file that explains about mangahigh.com and then login and try the Pythagorean Theorem assignments.

Choose 3 problems each day. Write an equation in y=mx+b form. Solve the equation that you wrote.
Remember, the “b” (y-intercept) is the thing that happens ONCE and the “m” (slope) is the thing that happens over and over.

Today you will be reviewing and practicing the skill of solving equations
You may print out the pdf worksheet file, or you may write your work on your own paper.

Choose 10 equations to solve. Check your answers on the second page. If you don’t agree with the answers, go back and check your work.

You need to turn in the Document with your Brain Dump for the 10 points.

Online math practice – when you finish NWEA
First, go to gmail and find the email from Khan Academy. Follow the directions and you should get into the correct Khan Academy class. Find the assignments tab and do at least one Khan Academy assignment.
