Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at East Bay Arts High School, a small college preparatory, arts-integrated high school. I am so excited to welcome so many new members (students, staff and families) to the EBA Family. learning with and from them!  We want everyone to feel connected and responsible for the success of all students.  There will be myriad opportunities to get involved in various committees and group activities so that we can collectively and individually contribute to the EBA experience.

Since its inception in 2005 and continuing to today, EBA has been a safe and inclusive school where every student learns the habits of mind, body and character necessary for success. We want every student to feel seen, heard, loved and supported.  Our students can access college preparatory classes, master the state standards, complete the UC/CSU a-g requirements and grow as artists. Our cross-curricular grade level projects are based in real world problems and incorporate the arts to encourage student engagement and agency.  It is our hope that, through an arts-integrated and anti-racist approach, our students will critically engage with one another, the curriculum, and society to become leaders and advocates for social justice.

We are co-located again on the San Lorenzo High School campus for the 2023-2024 school year and anticipate a decision from the School Board in October, 2023 regarding where EBA's permanent location, beginning in August, 2024.  Please feel free to contact us at (510) 317-4410 for additional information and to schedule a tour of East Bay Arts. I look forward to speaking with prospective students and their families. We are a school where individuality and creativity are honored, where we believe in the brilliance of all students and where students can prepare for college while advancing their talents as visual and/or performing artists.

In service,

Alex Harp
